About Us
The Granbury Bass Club meets at 7pm the 1st Wednesday of every month at the Spring Creek BBQ located in the Staples Shopping Center on hwy 377 east in Granbury, TX.
History Welcome to the Granbury Bass Club. Lakes fished: Lakes fished from Granbury, TX have included just about every lake in the DFW metroplex. Long distance lakes have been Lake Fairfield (165mi) and Lake Cooper (135mi). The mainstay of the membership is 11 years. Member's age range from 16 to 72 years old.
We are a proud organization and want to share some of our history with you.
The Granbury Bass Club formed in 1984. The meetings have been held at various locations: Toledo Tackle (now The Patio Shop), Granbury Lanes, Members Homes, Old Granbury Auto Ranch, Pizza Inn, Bodacious Bar- B-Q, Chop N Block Bar-B-Que, Golden Corral Steak House on Hwy 144, and presently at the Spring Creek BBQ on Hwy 377.
The Granbury Bass Club is based in Granbury, TX, but has members from throughout the DFW- metroplex and other communities within the North & Central Texas area. Membership is open to anyone; new members are voted in at the monthly meetings.
Our primary goals are (1) To encourage sportsmanship, fellowship and provide bass fishing techniques through lectures & materials, and (2) To support/sponsor youth and community programs.
The membership enrollment had grown as large as 103 members in the late 80's, and has been reduced to as few as 6 members in the early 90's. Membership has currently stabilized in the 20 – 30 range.
Some of the major achievements of the club include: (1) Sponsored Kid Fish; (2) Supported the Chamber of Commerce in the Carp Tournaments; (3) Hosted numerous Open Tournaments including some benefiting the American Cancer Society in our local areas.
Affiliations: In the past the club has been affiliated with (1)Texas Association of Bass Clubs, (2)Federation of B.A.S.S., and (3)Honey Hole BCA. The club is not currently affiliated with any bass organization. We are currently in discussion to join Fun and Sun's State Top 6.
Safety Record: We are aware of only two accidents, one boating and one driving. No serious injuries were associated with the accidents.
Our current membership started at 21. Our fiscal Club year is October – September. We meet the 1st Wednesday of the month and fish the 2nd weekend following the meeting (there is a week between the meeting and the fishing tournament). We fish Saturday and/or Sunday.
Our yearly dues are currently $40.00 per member or family.
A club hat is presented to all new members.
Monthly tournament fees are: $25.00 (includes Big Stringer & Big Bass). There is an optional $5.00 in addition; this includes $2.50 for Blind Draw and $2.50 for the Calcutta pot. Calcutta is currently paid for fish weighing over 7 pounds.
We provide Year End Awards to the Top Six, Junior Angler, Angler of the Year, Lady Angler, Member of the Year and Big Bass.
